SHORESH Terms of Use — Families

Last updated: October 6, 2026 · Effective: October 6, 2026

1. Who we are, and what these terms are

SHORESH is operated by David Vaknin, a sole proprietor registered in Israel (עוסק מורשה), trading as ABCschool, of 11 HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu Street, Kiryat Malakhi, Israel (“SHORESH”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at info@shorsh.org, and we will give our business registration number on request.

These terms are a contract between us and you, the parent or legal guardian who creates the account. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not create an account.

These terms cover the family subscription only. If your child uses SHORESH through their school, a separate agreement between us and the school governs that use, and the school — not you — holds the account.

2. What SHORESH is

SHORESH teaches Hebrew language and Jewish heritage to children through video lessons, animated characters, quizzes, worksheets, presentations and games. It is an enrichment service. It is not a school, not a substitute for schooling, and we do not award credits, grades or certifications.

3. Who may use it

You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of every child you register. By registering a child you confirm that the child is at least 5 years old. The service is designed for children from age 5 and up and is not built for children under 5. We deliberately do not ask for a child's date of birth, and we rely on your confirmation instead.

We currently offer the family subscription to residents of the United States and Canada. We may open or close other territories at any time.

A child may not create an account. Only you can.

4. Your account and your child's profile

You create one parent account and register one or more children under it. Each child gets a profile with sign-in credentials.

You are responsible for keeping your account password and your child's credentials confidential, for everything that happens under your account, and for telling us promptly at info@shorsh.org if you believe someone else has gained access.

You agree that the information you give us is accurate, and that you will keep it current.

5. Your role while your child uses SHORESH

SHORESH is designed to be used by a child, with a parent available. You remain responsible for supervising your child's use of the service and for deciding what is appropriate for your child.

We do not provide any way for your child to contact another child, to be contacted by another family, or to publish anything to other users. The service has no chat, no comments, no profile pages and no social features of any kind.

6. Subscriptions, prices and billing

How you are billed. Subscriptions are sold and billed through Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”), which acts as the merchant of record for your purchase. Paddle, not SHORESH, is the seller on your payment statement, collects your payment, and charges any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies where you live. Paddle's own buyer terms apply to the payment transaction alongside these terms.

We never see your card. Your card or payment details go to Paddle and are handled by Paddle. We do not receive, store or process them.

Prices. The current price, billing period and what is included are shown at checkout before you pay. Prices are stated in the currency shown at checkout. Unless the checkout page says otherwise, the price shown excludes tax, and the tax that applies to you is added at checkout.

Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price for that period, and your payment method is charged, until you cancel. We will tell you by email before any price increase takes effect, and the increase applies only from your next renewal.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time, from your account settings or by emailing info@shorsh.org. Cancellation stops the next renewal. It does not retroactively cancel the period you have already paid for: your child keeps access until the end of that period, and then access ends.

Refunds. We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you decide within 14 days of your first subscription payment that SHORESH is not for you, request a refund through Paddle at paddle.net or by emailing info@shorsh.org, and Paddle will refund the payment in full and your subscription will end. The same 14-day guarantee applies independently to each mid-year lesson-set purchase, counted from that purchase's own receipt date — a refund of a mid-year lesson-set purchase removes only that lesson set, and your subscription and every other lesson set stay as they were. Outside the 14-day window, and outside the refund rights the law gives you where you live, subscription payments are not refunded for a year that has begun or for a year your child did not use — your child keeps access to the end of that year, and then access ends; mid-year lesson-set purchases are not refunded mid-year after their own 14 days. If a renewal has been charged in error, email info@shorsh.org within 30 days of that charge and we will arrange a full refund of that renewal through Paddle (this is a billing-mistake path, not a change-of-mind path, and sits alongside the 14-day guarantee). The full refund policy, including the country-specific statutory refund windows Paddle honours on our behalf, is at /refund-policy.

Trials. We do not offer a free tier. If we offer a trial, it is a paid trial at a reduced price, and we will state its length and its price at checkout. Unless we say otherwise, a trial converts into a full subscription at the end of the trial period at the then-current price and your payment method is charged. You can cancel before then and you will not be charged beyond the trial price.

7. What you and your child may not do

You agree not to, and not to let your child or anyone else:

  • share, resell or sublicense the account, the credentials or the content;
  • use SHORESH for a classroom, a school, a group programme or any other institutional or commercial use — that needs a school agreement;
  • download, record, screen-capture, copy or redistribute our videos, presentations, worksheets or any other content, except for printing worksheets for your own registered child's use;
  • attempt to access parts of the service you were not given access to, probe or test its security, or interfere with its operation;
  • use any automated means to scrape, crawl or extract content;
  • remove, obscure or alter any copyright or ownership notice;
  • upload or submit anything unlawful, hateful, violent, sexual or infringing.

8. What your child creates stays your child's

Some parts of SHORESH invite a child to write or draw — for example a short letter to one of our characters.

Your child, and you as their guardian, own what your child creates. We do not claim ownership of it.

So that we can actually run the service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce and adapt what your child creates, for the purposes of operating, supporting and improving SHORESH. This includes showing it to the staff who moderate it, and including it — or a response to it — in the response videos our characters record for children.

This licence is limited to those purposes. We do not sell your child's content, licence it to anyone else for their own purposes, use it in paid advertising, or use it to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.

If a child's creation is included in a response video, we identify the child by first name only, or by no name at all, at your choice. You can tell us at any time at info@shorsh.org that you do not want your child's creations used in a response video, and we will stop.

The licence ends when you ask us to delete your child's content or when the content is deleted under our retention policy, except that we are not required to pull down a response video that was already published.

9. Our content stays ours

Everything else in SHORESH — the videos, characters (including Avivi and Tato), scripts, music, voice recordings, illustrations, presentations, worksheets, games, quizzes, curriculum, software, design and the SHORESH name and logo — belongs to us or to our licensors, and is protected by copyright, trade mark and other laws.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the service, and to print worksheets, for the personal, non-commercial education of the children you have registered, for as long as your subscription is active. That is the whole of what we grant. Everything not expressly granted is reserved.

10. Third-party platforms

Some lesson content is delivered through third-party platforms: videos through YouTube, web fonts through Google, and on a small number of lesson pages an embedded Google document or form. Some lesson presentations open in a viewer we host on Netlify. When one of these loads, that platform's own terms and privacy practices apply to it, and we do not control them. Our Privacy Policy lists each of these suppliers.

11. Changes to the service

We develop SHORESH continuously. We may add, change, or remove lessons, features and content. We will not make a change that removes a material part of what you are paying for without telling you by email first; if we do, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.

We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted. We may suspend it for maintenance, and we will try to do that at times that affect the fewest families.

12. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time by emailing info@shorsh.org.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms, if your payment fails and is not corrected, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.

When an account ends, access ends and your data is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and what rights you have, including your rights as the parent of a child under 13. It forms part of these terms. Read it at shorsh.org/privacy.

14. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties that are not expressly stated here, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant any particular educational result. Whether and how much a child learns Hebrew depends on the child, on practice, and on things outside our control.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost opportunity, arising from your use of the service.
  • Our total liability to you for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or US$100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including, where applicable, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these terms or from use of the service under your account in breach of these terms. This does not apply to anything caused by us.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. This choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country, state or province where you live, and those laws continue to apply to you.

A claim may be brought in the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel, and we submit to their jurisdiction. That jurisdiction is not exclusive: if the law of the place where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts, you keep that right, and we will not object to it on the basis of this clause. These terms contain no arbitration requirement and no waiver of your right to take part in a class action.

Before starting a formal claim, please email info@shorsh.org and give us 30 days to resolve it. Most problems are a misunderstanding or a billing error and we would rather fix them.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will email the address on your account at least 30 days before it takes effect, and we will post the new version with a new “Last updated” date. If you do not accept a material change, you may cancel before it takes effect and we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it.

19. The rest

If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of the business, and we will tell you if we do.

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about the service.
